Parking Structure Reuse

Turning the parking structure into a school ("The Loneliest Parking Lot in L.A.," Aug. 6) is a wonderful idea, but if that doesn't work, how about making it one of the cornerstones of a people-mover servicing downtown Los Angeles Downtown Los Angeles is the central business district of Los Angeles, California, located close to the geographic center of the metropolitan area. The sprawling, multi-centered megacity is such that its downtown core is often considered just another district like Hollywood or ?

As it is at 17th Street, it could go south to USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  and the museums in Exposition Park Exposition Park is the name of more than one place:
  • Exposition Park (Dallas) - a neighborhood in south Dallas, Texas
  • Exposition Park (Kansas City) - A former baseball park in Kansas City
. When I chaired the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Downtown Redevelopment District from 1976 to 1979, I did not share Ed Helfeld's (then the executive director of the CRA See Community Reinvestment Act. ) enthusiasm for a downtown people-mover. It was a big mistake on my part. Ultimately, a modem, elevated people-mover could prove to be just the thing the downtown area needs.

Residents in the new South Park area could use the system to get to work. The parking structure should be purchased and turned into a municipal parking lot or rented from Mr. Maguire.

Perpetuating Greed

When I read Mitch Albom's article about the guy auctioning Bonnie bon·ny also bon·nie
adj. bon·ni·er, bon·ni·est Scots
1. Physically attractive or appealing; pretty.

2. Excellent.
Bakley's domain name ("Blake Case Playing Out Like O.J. Sequel," May 28), I was appalled at his immorality and the fact that people who want to profit from a person's death exist everywhere. Then I read Mitch's other article, ("Branded Kids," August 6), about a parent who wants to offer companies the opportunity to name his child after their product. At first, it seems that Albom disapproves of his interviewees, but then you realize that he is perpetuating their greed. Why is he writing about these people? Why is the Business Journal printing these stories? By running these kinds of articles, you are only encouraging this behavior.
