About Those Billboards I've just renewed my subscription to the Business Journal and received the issue including your story about KLAX-FM billboards ("Double Take," Feb. 17). For your information: This promotion was first done here in Los Angeles in 1976. Radio station KMET-FM (94.7) had the upside-down billboards displayed across 420 of 850 total billboards throughout Los Angeles for more than a year. This promotion was done under the regime of David "The Hound" Morehead, the station manager. KMET-FM was owned by Metromedia Inc., which also owned the billboard company of Foster/Kleiser. The campaign was a tremendous success and has been duplicated since then by other radio stations, and some beverage companies, in markets all across the country. Of course, I do have an advantage in knowing this. I was the morning newsgoon on KMET-FM at the time. Research by pure memory... middle age is a blast!
