LETTERS TO A YOUNG MATHEMATICIAN

IAN STEWART Ian Stewart is a name shared by several people:
  • Ian Stewart (racing driver) (born 1929), Scottish Formula One driver

The pursuit of mathematics as a profession, unlike that of law or medicine, is an underappreciated endeavor, writes Stewart, a professor of mathematics. Here he provides advice to students who nevertheless see math as Mathematics courses named Math A, Maths A, and similar are found in:
