Letters: Guidance.

Bill Steele offers to assist the cause of greyhound welfare

I REFER to a letter in the Racing Post The Racing Post is a British daily horse racing, greyhound racing and sports betting newspaper. It is owned by Sheikh Mohammed and published under a 10 year lease by Trinity Mirror. , July 16, from Ms Annette Crosbie Annette Crosbie, OBE (born 12 February, 1934) is a Scottish character actress, best known for her many television appearances.

She was born in Gorebridge, Midlothian, Scotland, to Presbyterian parents who disapproved of her becoming an actress.
, President, League Against Cruel Sports The League Against Cruel Sports (sometimes abbreviated to LACS) is an animal welfare organisation that campaigns against blood sports such as bull fighting, fox hunting and hare coursing. .

Ms Crosbie mentioned the training of kennel and track staff to provide a recognised qualification in animal care with a greyhound speciality.

The recognised veterinary organisation mentioned, I suggest, could be the Society of Greyhound Veterinarians, which is in a unique position to offer such training.

The Society is, at present, putting together a training scheme for track veterinarians on compact disc and, once completed, this could be adapted with little effort to encompass the training of track and kennel staff.
