Letter: Yourview - Comedy marches on.

Byline: Robert Hendry

IN response to Joe Jardine's letter referring to Still Game as schoolboy smut smut, name for an order of parasitic fungi (Ustilaginales) and the various diseases of plants caused by them. Smuts produce sootlike masses of spores on the host. , Francie and Josie were good in their day in the early Sixties but they were sadly limited to run-of-the-mill Pavillion or King's Theatre fodder, nothing more.

The Still Game team are of the present day, and extremely good writers and comedy actors.

The amount of material used in even one episode is amazing and would have filled up a three-hour show featuring Jack Milroy Comedian. (December 281915-February 1 2001). Born James Cruden in Govanhill (Glasgow) and educated at Shawlands Academy, Milroy is noted for his partnership with comedy actor Rikki Fulton, playing Francie to Fulton's Josie.  and Rikki Fulton. The Francie and Josie act should be consigned to the past where it belongs.
