Letter: Your view - Sky-high cost of guise and dolls; Comment OF THE DAY.

Byline: W. K.

WHAT has happened to old-fashioned Halloween Halloween (hăl'əwēn`, häl'–), Oct. 31, the eve of All Saints' Day, observed with traditional games and customs. The word comes from medieval England's All Hallows' eve (Old Eng. hallow="saint"). ? When my children were growing up, they dressed up in anything they could find. They would be pirates This is a list of known pirates, buccaneers, corsairs, privateers, and others involved in piracy. This list includes both captains and prominent crew members.

As long as you weren't recognised, that was all that was needed.

I feel sorry for mothers today as the children want special outfits that cost alot of money. I don't know how some families manage, especially if they have two or three children to dress, and it's all for one night.

Bring back the old-fashioned way.

We had to sing or say a poem or even dance, but nowadays they come six at atime and expect to do nothing and get paid. I don't bother to let guisers in now and it's a shame.
