Letter: Your view - Brilliant boozer.Byline: C. L. InnesAS a former East Neuk The East Neuk or East Neuk of Fife is a geographically ill-defined area of the coast of Fife, Scotland, which none-the-less stirs local passions. "Neuk" is the Scots word for nook or corner, and the East Neuk is generally accepted to comprise the fishing villages of resident, I was shocked to see the Larachmor pub in Pittenweem described in the Record as a "stinking stinking having an intrinsic fetid smell. stinking elder sambucuspubens. stinking hellebore helleborusfoetidus. stinking iris irisfoetidissima. hell-hole" by a German bar manager. I'm sure former owners Bob and Margaret Bob and Margaret was a Canadian/UK animated television series that was also shown in the United States. It was based on the Academy Award winning animated short Bob's Birthday, featuring the same main characters. Long will not be amused by Hans Portukat's comments. They ran Larachs for years in an exemplary fashion. Although predominantly a fishermen's pub, women were always respected and were frequent customers. The toilets, snug and bar were clean. Food was served and their recipe for a dish of prawns was excellent. How can an incomer pass comment on how this pub contributed to the local community for many a year? C. L. Innes, Forfar, Angus |
