I FELT sick in the stomach when all the media started reporting on Jade Goody's cancer and her sudden elevation to sainthood.

Some writers seemed to deem her a cross between MotherTeresa, John Lennon and James Dean.

Has the world gone stark raving bonkers?

Last year she was the biggest villain on the planet. Some of these same writers were calling her - at the least - an uneducated publicity seeking bigot.

I picked up the Sunday Mercury for some respite but to my amazement Tony Larner was suddenly labelling Ms Goody a brave individual and praising her for her unselfish act of raising money for her children.

What was even worse, he was criticising certain people for daring to voice their disquiet over the whole ghoulish circus that is embroiling Jade and her hangers-on.

I always assumed the act of bravery was performed by someone who had a choice in what they were undertaking.

Whilst feeling sorry for Jade Goody, if you are faced with a life-ending prognosis, surely you have no choice than to have a brave outlook?

Even the Home Secretary has become involved in this sickening spectacle, by letting a convicted thug out to marry Ms Goody, thus allowing them to have their wedding snapped exclusively by OK Magazine.

This whole sickening episode has shown what modern day Britain has become - a land for people famous for being famous, all orchestrated by the Max Cliffords of this world.

Is he not also the publicist of the 13-year-old father of a newborn child?

Enough said.
