Letter: Expressing sympathy to family and friends; VOICE OF THE NORTH.
I AM writing to express my sadness and sympathy to the family and friends of Hayley Adamson who lost her life in such tragic circumstances recently.
Such news would have come as a massive blow to all who knew her, particularly as the Scotswood area where this tragedy happened has for many years embodied such a strong community spirit. When I recently visited the scene of this incident it therefore did not surprise me that the area was covered with commemorative flowers with groups of young people offering comfort to each other at such a difficult time.
Hayley's sister is right to demand that there should be justice for the untimely and sad loss of such a young life and I am pleased that the police authorities have acted quickly in announcing a full and independent inquiry into the incident.
Nothing less will suffice. In the meantime it is my hope and expectation that the family will be given every support in coming to terms with such a devastating event in their lives.
