Just recently, he approved a plan to investigate the possibility of bringing a full workout, complete with yoga-like Pilates exercises, right into the credit union he manages in Sault Ste. Marie Sault Sainte Marie — pronounced "Soo Saint Marie" (IPA /su seɪnt məˈɹi/) — is the name of two cities on the Saint Marys River, which forms part of the boundary between the United States and Canada. .

ASCU Community Credit Union, concerned about health issues among its workforce, initiated a survey among the employees at its two Sault-based offices and discovered that the employees were very interested in helping with stress management, exercise and nutrition.

"The reality in Northern Ontario Northern Ontario is the part of the province of Ontario which lies north of Lake Huron (including Georgian Bay), the French River and Lake Nipissing.

Northern Ontario has a land area of 802,000 km² (310,000 mi²) and constitutes 87% of the land area of Ontario, although it
is that we have an aging population here and they need attention," he says.

Armed with an 80-per-cent response rate to the questionnaire and a desire to change things, Peres sought out a solution. The group had a naturopathic doctor come in and spend time with the staff and help them deal with medical problems without emphasizing medication. The group still maintains sessions where staff are encouraged to ask their own specific questions to the doctor and receive advice.

The decision to hold a "trial period" for the yoga-like Pilates exercises was also determined through feedback from the staff. Management intends to hold the sessions after work in the bank's reception area for about 45 minutes.

After the eight weeks, staff and management will gauge how successful they were and whether to expand the program.

The company also intends to introduce a "community investment program." After extensive surveys among workers, the credit union determined that there was a high level of volunteerism among its staff. Management decided to support volunteerism by helping link the staff's volunteer activities with projects that were important to the community and to the business.
