Let Registration Begin: The Inaugural TXU Energy Winter Games of Texas to Be Held in Frisco, Texas, January 13 - 15, 2006; Amateur Athletes Throughout Texas Have until December 20th to Register in Order to Compete.

FRISCO, Texas -- The Frisco Convention & Visitors Bureau (Frisco CVB) and the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) wish to remind amateur athletes and sports teams throughout Texas that there are less than 3 weeks for them to register and secure a spot to compete in the Inaugural TXU Energy Winter Games of Texas, an amateur Olympic-style event, open to both youths and adults. This event will provide competitive amateur athletes from across the state with an opportunity to compete in ten different sports (basketball, cheerleading, figure skating, flag football, gymnastics, ice hockey, soccer, swimming, volleyball and wrestling) that will take place throughout Frisco and one location in Plano.

This historic event will feature an opening ceremony patterned after the Olympic Games, and will take place in Frisco's Dr Pepper/Seven Up Ballpark, and will include former Olympians, live entertainment, as well as a traditional lighting of the flame. According to Marla Roe, Executive Director of the Frisco Convention & Visitors Bureau, "We are thrilled to be hosting this event. With a projected participation of 2,000 - 3,000 athletes and 10,000 spectators, it's easy to see how this partnership could have a significant and positive economic impact on the local economy."
