Four biographies will reach different age ranges with excellent overviews. The very young will find appropriate Gwenyth Swain's Sojourner Truth Sojourner Truth: see Truth, Sojourner.  (1575056518, $23.93), an 'On My Own' biography designed for grades 1-3 which reads like fiction, includes large print and colored drawings, and does a fine job of providing a very basic survey of Truth's life. Older readers in grades 4-6 will appreciate the titles slightly over 100 pages each which are suitable for reports: Philip S. Hart's Bessie Coleman Elizabeth 'Bessie' Coleman (January 26, 1892 – April 30, 1926), popularly known as "Queen Bess," was the first African American woman to become an airplane pilot, and the first American woman to hold an international pilot license.  (0822524694, $27.93) which reveals Coleman's life beyond being the first black woman pilot, from her cotton-picking youth to her French speaking abilities; Norman H. Although the United Nations' use of this term overlaps with 'foreign worker', the use of the term within the United States is more specific.
