Leopard 2 A6 in Munich.

The delivery of the German Army's first Leopard 2 A6 main battle tank from Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) took place during a recent ceremony at the company's plant in Munich, Germany. The German Army has ordered 225 of the A6 variant, which are complete with the new 120 mm L55 main armament and its newly-upgraded ammunition, the depleted uranium-free LKE 2 DM 53. Both the weapon and ammunition were developed in conjunction with Rheinmetall. In a separate development, Krauss-Maffei Wegmann has recently signed another contract with the Netherlands which covers the upgrade and modernisation of 180 Leopard 2s to the A6 standard.
