Lenovo Concept PCs Win Prestigious Design Awards; Red Dot Design Awards Recognize the Company's Innovation and Design Capabilities.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. -- Two Lenovo concept PCs have won design awards from the prestigious German design institute, Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen. The institute awarded a "Best of the Best for Highest Design Quality" to Lenovo's Yoga notebook - which features a 180-degree adjustable display for multiple viewing angles and uses - and a "High Design Quality" award to Lenovo's Sundial PC - an ultrathin PC with a rising stand and interactive touchscreen.

The Red Dot Design Award ranks among the most prestigious design competitions in the world, attracting more than 4,000 entries from 40 countries. The competition for the "Design Concept" category serves as a barometer of future design directions and trends with each winning entry selected by a jury of renowned design experts.

The ultrathin all-in-one standalone Sundial PC delivers unmatched flexibility and usability with a rising stand and sun dial-shaped touch wheel interface to fit the needs of any user. The rising stand allows for use in a variety of different environments including on a desktop or in a living room. 3-D virtual images and a touch screen help users navigate among applications and underline the unique technology employed in the Sundial PC.

The Yoga concept creates new standards for laptop agility, usability and innovation. Covered by a finely stitched leather surface, the new soft hinges and self-locking mechanism allow users to deploy the laptop as a 135 degree table display, a foldable drawing pad, or in its traditional position. A wireless mouse and ultrathin wireless keyboard accompany the Yoga laptop and combine to enhance user comfort.

Lenovo also received an award for its application, Connection Touch, which employs a touch pad, a simple interface and layout, step by step instruction, and digital videos and still images to teach users Chinese characters, calligraphy and history.

The award-winning designs are the result of Lenovo's Innovation Design Center, which is responsible for design strategy and development for the company's full line of products including desktop PCs, laptops, servers and handheld devices. The design center focuses on leveraging user studies, prototype and material engineering, product, structural and graphics designs and project management to deliver some of the industry's most innovative products.

Lenovo has won recognition for its products from multiple international competitions including awards for the Smartphone ET960 from the BusinessWeek / IDSA design competition and the Industrial Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), for the NG PC from Germany's IF International Design Award, and a number from the Intel Innovative PC Awards.
