Founded in 1999 by Mercury and Sarnoff to leverage their complementary technologies into the emerging world of digital television, AgileVision is a technology innovator in software-based manipulation of compressed video and data. AgileVision introduced the AGV-1000(TM), nicknamed "DTV-in-a-Box" for its small footprint and comprehensive software-driven capabilities, in 2001. The system's patented algorithms enable manipulation of MPEG-2 and high-definition television (HDTV (High Definition TV) A set of digital television (DTV) standards that offer the highest resolution and sharpest picture. Although some HDTV sets are available in standard (rather square) screen sizes, the overwhelming majority of sets are wide screen, which eliminates ) signals entirely within the compressed domain. The AGV-1000 is currently in use at several major broadcast facilities delivering DTV (Digital TeleVision) Transmitting TV using digital signals. The major DTV standards are ATSC (North America), DVB (Europe) and ISDB (Japan). All three use MPEG-2 video compression and Dolby Digital audio compression. DVB and ISDB also include MPEG audio compression.  and HDTV to the viewing public.

Integrated with Leitch, AgileVision will continue to operate out of central New Jersey. Veteran industry executive Tony Gargano, who has led AgileVision as CEO since its inception, will assist Leitch with the transition of the AgileVision team into the Leitch organization.
