Leisure Concepts to license the 1996 summer movie blockbuster "The Legend of Pinocchio".


NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 1995--Leisure Concepts Inc. (NASDAQ:LCIC LCIC - Lake County Interagency Council (Florida, USA)

) has been named the exclusive licensing agency for "The Legend of Pinocchio Pinocchio: see Collodi, Carlo.," the blockbuster live-action full-length feature film set for theatrical release in the Summer of 1996, it was announced today by Al Kahn, chairman and chief executive officer of LCI.

"We are anticipating a tremendous marketing and merchandising campaign in support of `The Legend of Pinocchio.' We're happy to help bring Pinocchio to life in the product and promotion arena as he enthralls kids on the big screen. The early licensing and promotional interest from companies in every major product category has been extremely positive," said Kahn.

"The Legend of Pinocchio" is directed by Steve Barron (The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Coneheads), and will be distributed domestically to over 2,200 theaters nationwide by Savoy Pictures. The movie is set for international release through The Kushner-Locke Company.

The film stars Academy Award Winner, Martin Landau, as Gepetto and TV teen heartthrob, Jonathan Taylor Thomas from TV's "Home Improvement" as the real boy Pinocchio. Jim Henson's Creature Shop will supply animatronics puppets and creature effects for the motion picture. Principle photography starts next month in Europe.

"The Legend of Pinocchio" is based on the novel, Pinocchio, by Carlo Collodi, which has been translated into over 150 different languages. The story, set in an Italian village, is about a man who wished for a son and a soul who wanted to be born.
