Leiken to visit South Korea, Japan.

Byline: The Register-Guard

SPRINGFIELD - Mayor Sid Leiken will join Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski next week on a trade mission to South Korea and Japan.

The goal for the trip is to promote Oregon exports, attract new business investments and highlight the state as a tourist destination.

Leiken is expected to be the only local government official from Oregon accompanying Kulongoski on the trade mission. Several business executives will also attend.

In 2005, South Korea and Japan were Oregon's second- and third-leading export markets.

Leiken plans to detail his trip with photographs and an online blog that will be available at www.ci.springfield .or.us.
