Leigh Resource - Exploration Update.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 26, 1996--LEIGH RESOURCE CORP.(VSE: LRC) Leigh Resource Corporation (the "Company") is pleased to report that it has now received the report of the Company's consultants on the first phase of work on the Kele River Property, Solomon Islands.

The work program consisted of a compilation of existing data, aeromagnetics and radiometric surveys, grid re- establishment and extension, and geochemical surveys.

The results of the 750 samples acquired throughout the soil sampling program indicate a greater extent and continuity of the epithermal mineralization than was previously interpreted in the Vulu-Babatia area. The structural interpretation has also identified eight additional locations which present potential, largely untested epithermal targets, increasing the current total number of epithermal targets to thirteen in the Vulu-Bopo-Babatia region.

The soil sampling program which acquired samples from the Tango and Konga areas and the Vulu-Babatia areas, also included a rock-chip sampling program in the Vulu-Bopo-Babatia area. Excellent results were obtained from the rock-chip samples, particularly in the Bopo area whereby samples were assayed in the range of 50 to 80 grams per ton gold.

Leigh Resource Corp. (the "Company") has now commenced the second phase of the three phase program with an estimated budget of CDN $1.1 million for completion. As a result of the substantial extensions of the epithermal targets, the second phase will be focused on the furthering of Vulu-Bopo-Babatia area. This will encompass a "wacker" soil sampling program on the five previously identified and surface sampled targets as well as further follow-up ground work on the eight more recently identified epithermal targets. The third phase will be largely devoted to a conventional diamond drilling program on the selected targets which will be identified upon the completion of phase two.
