Lehman among big movers on Wall Street


Stocks that were moving substantially or trading heavily Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

NYSE

Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., down $3.47 at $54.28.

The fourth-largest investment bank was among a number of financial institutions downgraded to "Neutral" by Merrill Lynch because of credit worries in the industry.

Toll Brothers Inc., down 94 cents at $21.06.

The luxury home builder fell after Standard & Poor's reported its housing index showed that U.S. home prices in the second quarter had their sharpest decline since 1987.

Wendy's International Inc., up 70 cents at $32.69.

The hamburger chain agreed to let a major shareholder have access to crucial information about the company so he can decide whether to bid for it.

NASDAQ

PolyMedica Corp., up $6.40 at $51.69.

The diabetes treatment supplier agreed to a $1.5 billion acquisition offer from pharmacy benefits management company Medco Health Solutions Inc.

Corinthian Colleges Inc., up 4 cents at $13.54.

The for-profit higher education company reported a lower-fourth quarter profit, but a full-year outlook that satisfied investors.

Adobe Systems Inc., up 6 cents at $40.87.

The software maker's shares rose after an analyst said a number of the company's products, especially Acrobat 8, bode well for long-term growth.
