Lehigh University hosts short course on polymer latex technology, June 5-9.

The 37th Annual "Advances in Emulsion Polymerization Emulsion polymerization is a type of radical polymerization that usually starts with an emulsion incorporating water, monomer, and surfactant. The most common type of emulsion polymerization is an oil-in-water emulsion, in which droplets of monomer (the oil) are emulsified (with  and Latex Technology" one-week short course will be held on June 5-9 at the Emulsion emulsion: see colloid.
emulsion

Mixture of two or more liquids in which one is dispersed in the other as microscopic or ultramicroscopic droplets (see colloid). Emulsions are stabilized by agents (emulsifiers) that (e.g.

The course is an in-depth study of the synthesis, characterization A rather long and fancy word for analyzing a system or process and measuring its "characteristics." For example, a Web characterization would yield the number of current sites on the Web, types of sites, annual growth, etc. , and properties of high polymer latexes. Dr. Eric Daniels, Lehigh University, is the executive director and the course organizer is Dr. Mohamed S. El-Aasser, Lehigh University. The course will feature university lecturers and industry professionals, and is designed for engineers and scientists who are actively involved in emulsion work or those wishing to develop expertise in the area.

Registration costs $1,400 for the entire course or $600 per individual day.
