Legislative alert.

The Beer Institute has announced that members of Congress and Senators are currently in their home districts for a district/state work period. The period began August 9, and will last for four weeks. The Institute has encouraged industry members to contact Representatives and Senators about legislative issues that threaten the industry, particularly the Thurmond-Kennedy ad warning bill and any potential excise tax increase to pay for health care.

The Institute has prepared a packet containing position papers and information on the issues for use by members.

"With so many tough issues challenging the beer industry," said Institute president Ray McGrath, "It is imperative that members contact their representatives in Congress with their views on the issues."
