Legendary photographer Arnold Newman died on June 6, 2006, at age 88 in New York City of an apparentheart attack. Considered the father of environmental portraiture, he photographed hundreds of world figures in politics, business, and the arts, including, most famously, Igor Stravinsky. Over his sixty-five-year career, Newman worked for many of the major magazines including Fortune, Holiday, LIFE, Look, and the New Yorker. His work has been the subject of several books and numerous exhibitions.
