Jazz drummer legend Louis Bellson will perform at the historical Redwood City Fox Theater on New Year's Eve, in a show entitled "Fox Festival 2000."

Bellson is the world's most revered jazz drummer who pioneered the double bass drum and who played for years with the Duke Ellington Band, and other stars like Count Basie, Benny Goodman Noun 1. Anagnostou and Monte, producers of the Fox Festival 2000 and owners of the Fox Theater, said: "We are thrilled to host the event as it brings legendary artists together to perform at our historic theater and town."

They further explained that the New Year event marks a whole new direction for the Fox Theater and the revitalization of Redwood City. The Fox will be equipped with state-of-the-art audio and visual facilities and infrastructure, and a modern lighting system, that will enable the hosting of other events such as internet broadcasting of live concerts and shows.

Anagnostou and Monte also stated: "We are very excited about the opportunity to serve the dynamic needs of Redwood City, and eventually create a new and exciting cultural hub for the Peninsula. This enterprise is our dream -- the FOX Dream!"

The Fox Festival 2000 event features other live performances by Rhythm and Blues rhythm and blues (R&B)

Any of several closely related musical styles developed by African American artists. The various styles were based on a mingling of European influences with jazz rhythms and tonal inflections, particularly syncopation and the flatted blues chords.

An entire downtown Redwood City block will be closed off for this special event as the concert extends to the San Mateo County Courthouse where sumptuous gourmet food will be served by multiple local Redwood City restaurants, showcasing Euro-asian foods and delicacies, and free-flowing champagne. All-night dancing to great music bands and a midnight countdown surprise awaits guests.
