Addition of new disaster recovery/replication products for data

availability

Legato's high availability product strategy includes the addition of a new version of Legato Octopus for Windows NT and OFFSite Archive for NetWare. Octopus allows customers to replicate data to remote locations over low-cost WAN connections. OFFSite Archive allows customers to electronically vault their data to a remote location using point-in-time recovery technology at the block level. Data is protected and available even when a disaster occurs at the main server site. Both products complement the existing high availability products for both platforms.

Octopus, the industry-leading file replication product for Windows NT, is a robust, cost-effective product designed to replicate files on remote servers. As a component of a disaster recovery solution, Octopus provides data protection for a pool of Windows NT servers and minimizes redundant hardware. It gives customers the ability to easily move critical files to off-site disaster recovery (archive) locations automatically. It supports one-to-one, one-to-many and many-to-many replication configurations. It also maintains current copies of files from a primary site or server on multiple remote or secondary servers.

. With StandbyServer data is mirrored at the block level between the primary server(s) and the local standby machine over a high-speed data link. With OFFSite Archive, data is duplicated using point-in-time recovery to store a known data state at the remote site over low-cost LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used. , WAN or Internet connections.
