"Corps of Discovery II is an occasion to learn more about our nation's history, including the history of the American Indian," Gerard Baker said. The success of Captains Meriwether Lewis and William Clark's expedition from the Mississippi River in Missouri to the Pacific Ocean on the Oregon-Washington border was due in no small measure to interpreters French-Canadian fur trader, Toussaint Charbonneau, and his Shoshone Indian wife, Sacagawea. The original expedition, commissioned by President Jefferson in 1803, lasted from 1804-1806, and is celebrated 200 years later, beginning in January 2003 and continuing until the end of 2006.

The mobile exhibit, custom designed by Legacy Transportation Services, includes a 53-foot trailer with a 30-ton built-in HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) In the home or small office with a handful of computers, HVAC is more for human comfort than the machines. In large datacenters, a humidity-free room with a steady, cool temperature is essential for the trouble-free  system to distribute air and heat to the exhibit tent and the performance tent, the Tent of Many Voices. A state-of-the-art audiovisual center onboard includes rear screen projector and equipment to control all lighting and sound in the performance tent. The versatile system includes modern components with the ability to provide digital, audio and video capabilities for the press and performers.
