Legacy IT Modernization Enabled by ILOG and Relativity Technologies Business Rule Solutions.

Existing Business Processes Can Be Rediscovered Automatically and Merged with Enterprise IT Applications to Support Business Strategies

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Relativity Technologies, Inc. and ILOG[R] today announced they are teaming up to integrate their two business rule solutions - Relativity Technologies' Modernization Workbench[R] and ILOG JRules[R] and ILOG Rules for COBOL[R] - to help companies achieve legacy modernization goals. This alliance allows organizations to take advantage of the investment made in their existing applications while dramatically boosting operational flexibility.

The Modernization Workbench[R] helps users understand their legacy applications and discover the logic buried within their existing application portfolio. Clients can reuse the logic for ongoing management in ILOG JRules or ILOG Rules for COBOL, key offerings in ILOG's business rule management systems (BRMS) product line.

Forrester Research points out the challenge of identifying business logic as a barrier to convergence. "Most enterprises still embed process, rules, and reporting in applications. In other words, process flows, rules, and analytics are hard-coded into individual applications. It's hard to even find these definitions when they're mixed in with other application code, and making changes requires lengthy QA procedures." (How The Convergence Of Business Rules, BPM, And BI Will Drive Business Optimization, Forrester Research, Inc., May 2008).

The integration of Relativity Technologies' Modernization Workbench[R] with ILOG JRules[R] and ILOG Rules for COBOL[R] enables:

* Increased business agility with highly adaptable applications that can be automatically re-aligned to support emerging business requirements.

* Enhanced return on investment with the acceleration of application-based data modeling and governance of the rules that run your business.

* Risk reduction with reuse of proven, existing logic in a modernized architecture while rationalizing software assets that are misaligned with the most current corporate priorities.

"By integrating the two dominant technologies for business rule management and application modernization this partnership provides clear value for CIOs," said Desmond Delandro, vice president, Strategic Alliances with ILOG. "Now, organizations can shift from brittle, poorly understood applications to highly adaptable and maintainable systems - while leveraging the intellectual property invested in their existing application portfolio."

"This integration strengthens CIOs' ability to address their top priority: misalignment between IT and business needs," said Steve Maysonave, chairman, president, and CEO of Relativity Technologies. "CIOs gain further control over how their application portfolio truly automates core business processes. This enables IT to proactively and quickly adapt critical applications to shifts in corporate strategy."

"Wipro has worked extensively with both ILOG and Relativity Technologies to enable large-scale rules extraction initiatives," said Krishnakumar Menon, general manager - Wipro, Enterprise BPM (Business Process Management) & SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) Practice. "Our experience with these two leaders makes this partnership especially compelling. The integration will facilitate Wipro's strategic goal of helping clients to align their IT assets with business strategies."
