Left Coast Press (Walnut Creek, CA), the publisher of the "Journal Museum Education," is launching three new journals. "The Journal for the Study of Sports and Athletes in Education" will be published three times a year to provide a forum for the discussion of the "unique characteristics" of sports and athletics participation in education. The premier issue will carry articles on: desegregation and athletics; women in college sports; athletics administration and the NCAA; the need for a governing body for high school athletics; and, the effect of K-12 sports on academic performance. An annual subscription costs $42 for individuals and $139 for institutions. "Museum History Journal" will be published twice a year beginning in 2008 to carry critical evaluative histories relating to museums. Coverage includes traditional museums on natural history and fine art, as well as related cultural institutions such as aquaria, zoos, architectural sites, archives and planetariums. An annual subscription will cost $40 for individuals, $89 for museums and $149 for institutions. "Museums and Social Issues" is also published twice a year to provide a forum for the consideration of social issues and their engagement with museums, Each issue will focus on one specific theme such as sustainability, civil discourse and evolution.
