Leasing team joins Newmark RE Services.

The commercial brokerage team of Leslie Harwood and Amy SussmanKatz, formerly of G.W. Michaels, Inc., have joined Newmark Real Estate Services, Inc. as brokers, announced Barry Gosin, the firm's president.

The two brokers have been working as a team for five years. Among their recent assignments, Harwood and Sussman-Katz were appointed exclusive leasing agents' for the Decorative Arts Center at 305 East 63d Street, where they are leading a campaign to lease more than 50,000 square feet of space.

Leslie Harwood, a 10-year veteran of commercial real estate consulting, held the position of vice president at G.W. Michaels, where she specialized in tenant representation. Harwood has acted as broker for a prestigious roster of tenants, including Bechtel, Inc., CBS, Inc., Kalvin Miller International Inc., and Cy Mann International Inc.

Harwood is also a partner and consultant for Harber, Inc., which acquires and manages a commercial real estate portfolio exceeding 2 million square feet of space in warehouse, manufacturing, rehab and other commercial real estate in New York, Boston and Philadelphia.

Active in a number of professional, civic and philanthropic organizations, Harwood just completed her year as chairman of the Board of Directors of the Young Men's/Women's Real Estate Association of New York. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Brokerage Division, co-chairman of the Economic Development Committee of the Real Estate Board of New York and cochairman emeritus, Real Estate New Leadership Division, Development Corporation for Israel.

She is a graduate of the University of Miami.

Amy Sussman-Katz represented a number of distinguished clients during her five-year career with G.W. Michaels, including Kawasaki Heavy Industries (USA), Inc., Provident Mutual, Lord Day & Lord, Barrett Smith, CyMann International and HWH Enterprises.

Prior to her career in office leasing and commercial brokerage, SussmanKatz worked on the conversions of residential complexes valued in excess of $1 billion at M.J. Raynes, Inc.

Among her many civic and philanthropic activities, Sussman-Katz is a member of the Issues and Actions Committee of the Young Men's/Women's Real Estate Association of New York, the New Leadership Cabinet of Israel Bonds, and volunteer at Project Dorot.

A graduate of Syracuse University, Sussman-Katz also holds a Diploma in Real Estate from New York University. While at NYU, she was the recipient of three academic scholarships, including the 1992 Association of Real Estate Women scholarship for her academic, civic and professional achievements.
