Leadtek Research Inc. Unveils Workstation-Class 3D Graphics Accelerators With Powerful Lighting/Geometry Engine at Siggraph 98, Booth No. 378.

FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 16, 1998--

WinFast 3D L3100 (3Dlabs GMX GMX Global Message Exchange  2000) and WinFast 3D L2530 (GMX

1000) -- Officially Certified by Softimage

LEADTEK Research Inc., a worldwide leading engineering company specializing in the design and manufacture of high-end 3D graphics accelerators for the PC workstation platform, announces at Siggraph 98 (Booth No. 378) its shipping of the WinFast 3D L3100 and the WinFast 3D L2530 -- the OpenGL graphics accelerators that boost the 3D graphics performance on PCs to that of high-end Unix workstations.

Leadtek WinFast 3D L3100

The WinFast 3D L3100, based on 3Dlabs GMX 2000 graphics processor, fits into the high-end category of the 3D graphics market to satisfy professional users hungry for graphics power on PCs. The 16MB frame buffer An area of memory used to hold a frame of data. Typically used for screen output, the buffer is the size of the maximum image that can be displayed on the screen. The memory, which is either a separate memory bank on the display adapter or a reserved part of regular memory, holds a  enables the WinFast 3D L3100 to accomplish high resolutions up to 1600x1200 in true color (1) Specifically, refers to 16,777,216 colors (24-bit color).  at 75Hz. With the 80MB local buffer and the dual GLINT MX processor structure, smooth implementation becomes a reality on high-end workstation-class 3D visualization, rendering and animation applications through high-speed AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) A high-speed 32-bit port from Intel for attaching a display adapter to a PC. It provides a direct connection between the card and memory, and only one AGP slot is on the motherboard.  bus on x86-based PCs. The dual GLINT MX processors on the Leadtek WinFast 3D L3100 can be configured for a single display that is line interleaved, with each GLINT MX handling alternate lines on the display, resulting in a doubling on rendering speed.

The WinFast 3D L3100 also achieves superior lighting performance, with the GLINT Gamma lighting engine pushing the WinFast 3D L3100 to performance levels of top-end Unix workstations based on Light-01 score in the Viewperf OpenGL benchmark. The performance/price factor of the WinFast 3D L3100 is between 3 to 20 times better than the competition.

Leadtek WinFast 3D L2530

Based on 3Dlabs GMX 1000-3Dlabs GLINT MX graphics processor and Gamma lighting engine, the WinFast 3D L2530 is the 3D graphics accelerator with the most powerful lighting capabilities in its class. For cost-conscious users hungry for 3D visualization and lighting power on their PCs, the WinFast 3D L2530, with 8MB frame buffer and 16MB local buffer, comes with both AGP and PCI (1) (Payment Card Industry) See PCI DSS.

version boards to fit into a wide range of hardware configurations and provides the powerful solution for different levels of high-end 3D graphics users.

The WinFast 3D L2530 is the most cost-effective solution to break the graphics performance bottleneck on PCs, accelerating the full 3D geometry pipeline in hardware to significantly increase the performance of applications such as mechanical, industrial and architectural design This article or section may contain original research or unverified claims.
