Leading off.For a guy like me who has a pretty simple name--by that I mean both my first and last names are monosyllabic--you'd think I'd be pretty ignorant when it comes to empathizing with a guy like Warren Michelson, who was named one of Saskatchewan's Most Influential Men in the last issue of Sask Business. Or rather, at least his alter ego A doctrine used by the courts to ignore the corporate status of a group of stockholders, officers, and directors of a corporation in reference to their limited liability so that they may be held personally liable for their actions when they have acted fraudulently or unjustly or when was so honored, as our crackerjack crack·er·jack also crack·a·jack adj. Slang Of excellent quality or ability; fine. [Probably from crack, first-rate + jack. editorial staff (read me) placed this honor upon a Warren Mitchinson. So apparently I am pretty ignorant, but surprisingly, not when it comes to empathizing with Mr. Michelson, who so graciously advised us of our error shortly after our March/April issue hit the streets. As we expressed in that particular phone call, we are deeply sorry for that error, but we'd like to make that apology a little more formal by doing so in this space. [ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] But alas, I have experienced many misnomers myself. Most often it's Kevin or Ken, which I must say is close enough to let it go in most instances. In fact I found out during my time in Australia In mainland Australia, the keeping of standard time is divided into three time zones: eastern (UTC+10), central () and western (UTC+8). There are also some areas using an unofficial "central western" zone (). Most Australian external territories also observe different time zones. last fall that Dave is a close-enough substitute as well. While there, I was asked to be a guest speaker at the Tractor and Machinery Association of Australia AGM AGM annual general meeting AGM n abbr (= annual general meeting) → AG f AGM n abbr (= annual general meeting) → JHV f banquet. (Not as impressive as it sounds; their first choice backed out at the last minute.) But after my rip-roaring speech which had the perfect mix of facts, figures, anecdotes and jokes, followed by a seemingly never-ending, highly interesting Q and A period (OK, my memory might be a little skewed skewed curve of a usually unimodal distribution with one tail drawn out more than the other and the median will lie above or below the mean. skewed Epidemiology adjective Referring to an asymmetrical distribution of a population or of data ), I was given a token of appreciation by the TMA TMA Turnaround Management Association TMA Texas Medical Association TMA Transportation Management Association TMA Training and Management Assistance (a component of OHRD, which is a component of OWR) TMA Tooling & Manufacturing Association president, who in her speech, kept mentioning a Dave. It wasn't until she made reference to Canada that I realized she was talking about me. Dave, Keith, what's the difference, right? Maybe Dave is Australian for Keith, how would I know? So I do have a certain kinship after all with Warren Michelson, who told us that although his surname's been misspelled many times, many ways, we'd broken new ground with our rendition. So if it makes my apology any more forthright or sincere, being that Mr. Michelson is in the radio business, if ever there was a reason for my name to hit the Golden West air waves, he and/or any of his wonderful staff could call me whatever they would like on air. I'm sure I've been called worse before. But seriously, once again we apologize for our oversight, and offer a correct version for one of our province's most influential men below.
