Leading Korean Construction Contractor Builds Secure Infrastructure With Juniper Networks; Kolon Engineering & Construction Leverages Best-in-Class Firewall and SSL VPN Technology to Secure Distributed Organization.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:JNPR) today announced that Korea's Kolon Engineering & Construction (KEC) is improving operational efficiency and saving operating costs through self-managed, secure remote access services based on Juniper Networks' award-winning secure sockets layer virtual private network (SSL VPN) solution. According to KEC, the new Juniper Networks SSL VPN solution is saving KEC more than 60 percent in total cost of operation compared to the previously deployed solution, and offers KEC added threat protection provided by Juniper Networks' NetScreen firewall/VPN appliances.

KEC deployed the new remote access solution with the help of system integrator KCC Information & Communication (www.kcc.co.kr), which installed the NetScreen-204 firewall/IPSec VPN integrated appliances with a Juniper Networks Secure Access (SA) 2000 series SSL VPN device. The use of both SSL VPN and IPSec technology ensures maximum flexibility for KEC's diverse user base.

"We have different sized sites remotely connecting to our headquarters," said Jeong. "Small sites, as well as remote users connecting from their home or other locations, benefit from SSL VPN, which does not require any software client pre-installation. For larger sites, we use IPSec, which allows us to strike a nice balance between security and ease of use. Mixing the two technologies gives us maximum flexibility."

The new VPN solution also saves KEC administration overhead. Even though the previous system was managed by its service provider, KEC's internal IT team had to frequently troubleshoot the service provider's VPN client, a requirement for the managed service. This burden is eliminated with the Juniper Networks solution. There is also no need to pre-configure machines for SSL VPN access.

"KEC can now leverage end-to-end security and authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA) features to adopt additional security measures such as integration with Microsoft Active Directory, and two-factor authentication with security ID tokens."
