Leading Help Desk Software Developer Announces SA-ExpertView 2.0 to Provide Enhanced Integration with Cabletron and Sun.

INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 1996--Software Artistry Inc. (Nasdaq: SWRT), a leading provider of strategic support solutions, announces Version 2.0 of SA-ExpertView(tm).

As part of Software Artistrys SA-EXPERTISE(tm) suite of applications, ExpertView uniquely integrates Network and Systems Management platforms to the support center and exchanges crucial information between these two functions, ultimately providing proactive, strategic support. Version 2.0 is expected in the first quarter of 1997.

These integrations can be achieved either with ExpertViews "out-of-the-box" or command-line capabilities. ExpertView 2.0 will include two new "out-of-the-box" integrations with the major network management platforms Cabletron Spectrum and Suns Solstice Domain Manager and Solstice Site Manager.

Earlier this year, Software Artistry released ExpertView 1.0.1, which allowed integrations with Cabletron and Sun via the command-line capabilities of ExpertView, which also integrate to systems such as Tivoli TME, Boole & Babbages Command Post, and Computer Associates CA-Unicenter. The "out-of-the-box" capability now allows ExpertView to be incorporated directly into the working screens of Spectrum, Domain Manager, and Site Manager.

As opposed to other vendors who only provide command-line interfaces, ExpertView will now provide "out-of-the-box" integrations with: -0-

The "out-of-the-box" integration also provides automatic problem ticket open and closure from network events and automatically populates the support centers knowledge base, thereby proactively preparing support analysts to handle problems caused by network events efficiently and quickly.

ExpertView 2.0 also includes general network management platform tool enhancements. A new command-line program allows the grouping and consolidation of related traps onto a single problem in the ExpertView gateway and Expert Advisor database. This command-line program can be used to integrate with any network or systems management tool that can call a Unix program as an "action" for a trap.

Other general gateway improvements of Version 2.0 include enhanced problem configuration values, which now have the ability to be supplied on an individual node basis in addition to defaulting to system- wide values. Also, new user interface screens can define and maintain the new "trap names" and "trap groups" features.
