John Edwards (D-N.C.) gave up his seat to make his unsuccessful run for the White House. These stalwarts were replaced by senators who believe that corporations should be given legal protection when they negligently cause harm. Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) declared, "I am a trial lawyer" as he spoke. Due to a vote on the minimum wage, AAJ members weren't able to meet with many Republican friends. However, Rep. Lee Terry (R-Neb.) hosted a Congressional Republican Caucus event, which Reps. Howard Coble (R-N R-N Raion (Russian, district; used in postal addresses) .C.) and Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) also attended.
