LeWiz Fires the Dual-Port 10GigE PCI-Express Rocket and Begins Shipping the Low Profile Single-Port 10GigE.

--LeWiz Communications introduces a dual-port 10GigE PCI-Express NIC with optional TCP/IP acceleration, and announces the availability of its low-profile single-port 10GigE NIC with optional full TCP/IP acceleration for both copper and fiber.

Raising 10Gbps NIC performance to another notch, LeWiz offers 2-port 10Gbps NIC on the high performance PCI-Express bus. Taking advantage of its advanced TOE architecture, the LeWiz 10Gbps Ethernet NIC cards with optional TCP/IP acceleration are designed specifically for servers, storage, and client systems with PCI-express and PCI-X slots. Available immediately are the Talon3220 board -- a 2-port 10GigE NIC with 8-lane PCI-express, and the Magic2028-10G board -- a 1-port 10GigE low profile NIC with 64-bit PCI-X. Both cards can operate in the familiar NIC mode or TOE mode with full TCP/IP acceleration (see Figure 1).

In the NIC mode, LeWiz's 10GigE NICs can operate in a wide range of operating system environments from Windows to Linux, making these NICs simply work everywhere from desktop clients to data-center servers and storage systems. In the full TOE off-load mode, these NICs can operate in the Linux environment with low CPU utilization and higher speed capability.

The dual port 10GigE PCI-Express is ideal for storage systems that require mirroring or backup function. One port can be connected to the storage-server connection and the other can be connected to the mirror or the backup system. Using only one card and 1 PCI-Express slot saves system cost, reduces heat and at the same time makes use of the high performance PCI-Express bus. The dual port can also be bonded to form a 20Gbps pipe offering a network throughput that would satisfy the bandwidth appetite of any system in the market.

LeWiz has also shipped the low-profile single-port 10GigE PCI-X NIC with optional TOE. The low profile feature enables LeWiz's card to operate in small form factor equipment such as 1U and 2U systems. Both cards utilized chips that are in full production since late 2005, making the products highly reliable, readily available and low risk for users. Low-cost CX4 copper, short-range and long-range fiber optics are available for both cards.

A wide range of device drivers are available for operating systems: WindowsXP, WindowsServer 2003, Redhat Enterprise Linux, SuSE Enterprise Linux, and Fedora Core Linux with 32-bit or 64-bit option. Other device driver options are available to customers upon request. All device drivers are loadable -- a unique feature of LeWiz's TOE architecture. No need for users to recompile the system OS -- easier to use.
