LeCroy Introduces Gen2 PCI Express Link Trainer.

MILPITAS, Calif. -- LeCroy Corporation, a leading supplier of oscilloscopes and serial data test solutions, today introduced the Gen2 PCI Express A high-speed peripheral interconnect from Intel introduced in 2002. Note that although sometimes abbreviated "PCX," PCI Express is not the same as "PCI-X" (see PCI-SIG and PCI-X for comparison). As a result of the confusion, "PCI-E" or "PCIe" is the accepted abbreviation.  LinkUP link·up
n.
1. The act of linking or connecting: a linkup of two orbiting spacecraft.

2. Something that serves to link or join; a connection.

3.
Trainer, the companion development tool for the PCI Express PETracer[TM] Gen2 Summit Analyzer shipped in August this year. Companies developing PCI Express Gen2 products and need a controllable host or device running at 5 Gb/s speeds will find the LinkUP Exerciser essential for development.

PCI Express LinkUP is a card-based LTSSM LTSSM Long-Term Sample Storage Module  exerciser that can generate training sequences at Gen1/Gen2 speeds for lane widths from x1 to x16. LinkUP allows users to test their products to find potential issues that can affect interoperability. Features such as the LTSSM emulator generate protocol traffic to a device or host. The system can be configured to transition to various states, and to change speeds to test speed negotiation. ACKs are also generated for received TLPs to emulate the Data Link Layer and preserve the link. In addition, each PCI Express lane's parameters such as lane skew (1) The misalignment of a document or punch card in the feed tray or hopper that prohibits it from being scanned or read properly.

(2) In facsimile, the difference in rectangularity between the received and transmitted page.
, polarity (1) The direction of charged particles, which may determine the binary status of a bit.

(2) In micrographics, the change in the light to dark relationship of an image when copies are made.
, scrambling can be changed to expose physical layer issues.

"LeCroy was the first to answer the call to support the Gen2 PCI Express development community," said John Wiedemeier, Product Marketing Manager, Protocol Solutions Group, LeCroy Corporation. "Being early has enabled us to work closely with leading edge companies who are pushing the envelope for higher performance, and to develop the test tools that keep them in the lead."

LeCroy protocol analyzers See network analyzer.  and exercisers have been at the forefront of PCI Express development tools. All LeCroy protocol analyzers feature a hierarchical display, real-time statistics, protocol traffic summaries, detailed error reports, powerful scripting, and the ability to create user-defined test reports, which allow developers to troubleshoot intricate problems and finish their projects on time.

About LeCroy

LeCroy Corporation is a worldwide leader in serial data test solutions, creating advanced instruments that drive product innovation by quickly measuring, analyzing, and verifying complex electronic signals. The Company offers high-performance oscilloscopes, serial data analyzers, and global communications protocol Hardware and software standards that govern data transmission between computers. The term "protocol" is very generic and is used for hundreds of different communications methods. A protocol may define the packet structure of the data transmitted or the control commands that manage the  test solutions used by design engineers in the computer and semiconductor, data storage device, automotive and industrial, and military and aerospace markets. LeCroy's 40-year heritage of technical innovation is the foundation for its recognized leadership in "WaveShape Analysis"Cocapturing, viewing, and measuring the high-speed signals that drive today's information and communications technologies Noun 1. communications technology - the activity of designing and constructing and maintaining communication systems
