Lay movements XIV John Paul II Bible School.

The John Paul II John Paul II, 1920–2005, pope (1978–2005), a Pole (b. Wadowice) named Karol Józef Wojtyła; successor of John Paul I. He was the first non-Italian pope elected since the Dutch Adrian VI (1522–23) and the first Polish and Slavic pope.  Bible School is a unique residential school that offers a formation program in basic Catholic teaching and youth ministry skills. It enables students to grow closer to Christ through a structured life of prayer, study, community living and outreach ministry. Praise, prayer and spiritual gifts are integrated into their lives, strengthening them personally, and equipping them to effectively share their faith and serve the Church. "Our mission," they declare, "is to offer formation in Christian discipleship through immersion in prayer, the Word of God, and community life. We encourage all people to be alive in the spirit of Jesus and to bring the Father's healing love to the world." This was inspired by Mother Teresa's statement; "Put your self completely under the influence of Jesus ...so He may think His thoughts in your mind and do His work with your hands."

The school was opened in 1984 by the Western Catholic Charismatic Renewal Charismatic Catholicism, also known as Catholic Charismatic Renewal is a movement within the Catholic Church which is very similar to the Pentecostal and Evangelical movements.  Service Committee with the permission of Bishop Raymond Roy. The Bible School is located in the village of Radway, Alberta, just north of Edmonton. It has a student body of approximately 40 students per year. Teams take to the road for a final month in June for outreach ministry to speak to young people, inviting them to give Jesus a chance to work in their lives.

Marie Hubert writes:

"I remember last June when I applied to come to the Bible School. Although I knew that the 'tapestry of my life' had been woven by our heavenly Father, I couldn't help but feel that many of its threads were torn. This year has been one of healing, repentance, one of perseverance, but, most of all, one of decision to move ahead and claim the abundant full life that Jesus longs to give me.

Murray Chupka, too, had a life-changing experience:

"Ever since I came to the Bible School, I have learned what true love really is. Jesus! There is no greater love than that of God! The Lord Jesus has done wonderful things in me, and as I let go more and more to his love, everything else just slips away."

J.P. II accepts students eighteen years and older, who have a sincere desire to grow in their faith. The majority are young people between 18 and 30 years old. There is no age limit, so you might find married couples, retired people, priests and religious sisters. People come from all over the world.

There are several affiliated organizations, mostly run by graduates. Perhaps the best known is "Behold the Lamb", a full-time outreach team consisting of JP II graduates. They conduct school and parish retreats for youth throughout Western Canada
