The Hay-Adams

WASHINGTON, D.C.

"Under our roof the well-being of the guest comes first. The members of our staff ore not only trained in the 'art of making you feel of home' -- but to begin with, they hove been picked for their posts because they hove o sincere desire in their hearts to give gracious and thoughtful service."

Written 75 years ago when the Hay-Adams first opened, these words could just as well have been written today. To be sure, a lot of things have changed since the hotel was built across from the White House on Lafayette Park, but the exceptional service that the Hay-Adams soon became known for is not one of them.

What has changed is dramatic. Last year, every guest room was thoroughly renovated and the hotel was featured in Architectural Digest. The look is one of serene elegance, and the comfort is unparalled. When the Hay Adams says that they want you to feel at home, they really mean it.

With five distinctively decorated function rooms and over 8,000 square feet of meeting space, the hotel offers exceptional meeting and banquet service for anything from a VIP board meeting to a large State Department dinner. Built on a site once occupied by John Hay, who served as President Lincoln's secretary, and John Adams, great grandson of John Adams, an author of the Declaration of Independence, the hotel offers one of the capital's most historic settings in view of national monuments. It is an easy walk to the Smithsonian, the Washington Monument, Connecticut Avenue shopping, and international restaurants. Better yet, ASAE's offices are just around the corner.

To celebrate their 75th anniversary, the Hay-Adams is planning many features and activities. If you are arranging a function in Washington, D.C., this year, the Hay-Adams is an ideal choice.

The Peabody Hotels

LITTLE ROCK, MEMPHIS, AND ORLANDO

There are three hotels in the world that f[y the Peabody flag: The Peabody Memphis, The Peabody Little Rock, and The Peabody Orlando. With a history of 150 years of Southern hospitality to draw upon, the Peabody flag has come to be known and revered, far and wide, as the number one proponent of the art of Southern charm and gracious hospitality.

And it's no wonder. The Peabody was custom built in 1869 to be the "South's Grand Hotel," and, indeed, it was just that. "The Mississippi Delta begins in the lobby of The Peabody Hotel and ends on Catfish Row in Vicksburg. The Peabody is the Paris Ritz, the Cairo Shepheard's, the London Savoy of this section. If you stand near its fountain in the middle of the lobby, where ducks waddle and turtles drowse, ultimately you will meet everybody who is anybody in the Delta," said historian David Cohn back in 1935. The same holds true today.

The Peabody flag proudly flies not only in Memphis. Since 1986 the Peabody flag has also fluttered over The Peabody Orlando, and since 2001 at The Peabody Little Rock. No matter what the geographical location, the Peabody flag denotes architectural grandeur; comfortable, soothing guest accommodations wired to facilitate 21st century computers; flexible function space supported by professional audiovisual service and production; and stand-alone quality banquet services.

The historic jewel in the Peabody crown, The Peabody Memphis, has 468 exquisite rooms and suites, and 72,000 square feet of the most beautiful meeting space in the South. In the early eighties, the redecoration of this "grand dame of the South" sparked the revitalization of downtown Memphis. The hoters magnificent Grand Lobby and its celebrated signature restaurant, Chez Philippe, have just completed multimillion dollar redecorations. Capriccio restaurant, bar, and cafe opened to rave reviews and is, already receiving abundant awards and accolades.

The Peabody Orlando, regarded as "The Finest Hotel in Orlando," is a custom-built, convention and resort hotel with 891 luxurious guest rooms (57 suites), 57,000 square feet of flexible function space, and the prime position on Orlando's famous International Drive, directly opposite the 1.5-million-square-foot (soon-to-be 2.5 million-square-foot) Orange County Convention Center. Prime location is just one of the many attributes of The Peabody Orlando: This Four Star, Four Diamond, DiRona, Wine Spectator award-winning hotel exudes the grandeur of Southern hospitality and has been hosting memorable, flawless meetings since 1986.

The big story in Little Rock these days is the hoisting of the Peabody flag over the Arkansas River. The Peabody Little Rock, "Little Rock's New Front Room," has ignited the city's own Southern charm with the Peabody's special brand of hospitality and its signature Peabody Service Excellence[R]. This imposing downtown hotel and conference center was rebuilt, redecorated, and reflagged with the Peabody flag in 2001 at a cost of over $40 million. With 418 beautiful guestrooms and suites, The Peabody Little Rock now features the 40,000-square-foot Peabody Conference Center, and also is directly connected to the 200,000-square-foot Statehouse Convention Center.

Why does the Peabody brand appeal to the nation's professional meeting planners? The Peabody brand, supported by its consistent, award-winning operational expertise, blended with the arts of hospitality and culinary innovation, is everywhere in evidence: from the warm welcome by the staff on the front driveway to the efficient, smooth check-in and check-out. And in between, the extraordinary consistency of Peabody Service Excellence[R] is practiced with enthusiasm and verve by associates of all three hotels. The Peabody experience is the meeting planner's assurance of a successful and enjoyable event.
