Custom epitaxial service provider, Lawrence Semiconductor Research Laboratory Inc., is pleased to announce its certification to QS 9000 by Quality Systems Registrars Inc. The company, located in Tempe, Ariz., is a privately held corporation offering epitaxial service in both volume production and R&D. Specialization is in Group IV semiconductors (Si, Ge, C and their alloys).

The primary business focus for LSRL is volume production of epitaxial wafers for demanding state-of-the-art applications. These applications require silicon epitaxy used in devices based on SOI, etch stop layers, and buried layer devices. However, focus is also on emerging technologies including SiGeC epitaxy for HBTs, germanium epitaxy, and devices requiring selective epitaxial growth (including SiGeC for a self-aligned HBT process). Antimony and gallium doping of silicon and germanium are other capabilities unique to LSRL. These can provide extreme control of doping profiles for both n- and p-type layer doping.

LSRL customers are driven to reduce overhead and improve yield and quality. This is especially true in the current downturn of the semiconductor industry, and is viewed as the key to success.
