Law firm takes 48,000 s/f in New York Life Building.

Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges, LLP, a Los Angeles-based law firm specializing in business litigation, has committed to 48,892 s/f of space at the New York Life Building located at 51 Madison Avenue.

Recognized as the only law firm in America to receive three nine-figure jury verdicts in the last four years, Quinn Emanuel will relocate to the Midtown South office property from its current location at 335 Madison Avenue.

The CB Richard Ellis team of Lewis Miller, David Hollander, Sacha Zarba and Kevin Powderly represented Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges in the lease negotiations.

Cushman & Wakefield's Paul Glickman, Mitti Liebersohn, David Glassman, Shawna Menifee and Diana Biasotti acted on behalf of building owner, New York Life.

"New York Life's decision to add a second campus afforded Quinn Emanuel a unique opportunity to secure space in this first class, landmark building with convenient access to all major transportation hubs," said Mr. Miller.

"This transaction enables Quinn Emanuel to expand its current operations by 60% with options to accommodate the firm's future growth on a contiguous basis.

As an owner-occupier, New York Life's continued occupancy in the building provides a further level of comfort that the property and its services will be maintained in the same impeccable manner."

According to Peter Calamari, Partner and head of the law firm's New York City operations, "With this commitment we are securing offices that provide us with maximum flexibility as we continue to attract some of the best litigators and serve prominent clients around the world. The location was a major factor in our decision, since we wanted our New York offices to be representative of our energy and creativity."

Paul Glickman, an executive vice president at Cushman & Wakefield who is heading the marketing of the remaining floors at 51 Madison Ave. indicated, "The successful capital investment into the infrastructure of 51 Madison, coupled with the unique amenities offered at this headquarter building, continues to attract quality midtown tenants such as Quinn Emanuel."
