Under one arrangement, Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation is entering the geographic region by converting 12,658 square feet into four direct-from-manufacturer retail units -- G.H. Bass & Co., Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation, Cape Isle Knitters and Geoffrey Beene Geoffrey Beene (August 30 1924 – September 28 2004) was an American fashion designer.

Beene was born in Haynesville, Louisiana. He studied medicine at Tulane University, but dropped out in 1946, after three years.
, all slated to open for business on Monday, Nov. 23.

The basic lease for the four Phillips-Van Heusen units is five years. It is anticipated that the Stony Brook Community Fund will realize revenues estimated at $1.25 million over the five years.

In a second deal, The Nature Company, retailer of various gift items and clothing related to the environment, has leased approximately 1,600 square feet in Stony Brook Village for 11 _ the company's first store on Long Island.

Both leases require that any cosmetic renovations conform to Verb 1. conform to - satisfy a condition or restriction; "Does this paper meet the requirements for the degree?"

 the special look of the surrounding retail area.

Peter L. Curry, a partner of Rivkin, Radler & Kremer, directed both negotiations on behalf of Gloria Rocchio, executive director of the Stony Brook Community Fund. Assisting Curry was associate attorney Brian R. Sahn.
