(COPS) sponsored a study on the combined effects of pepper spray exposure and positional restraint on respiratory functions. Pepper Spray's Effects on a Suspect's Ability to Breathe presents the results of this study. This NIJ Research in Brief (NCJ NCJ National Criminal Justice NCJ National Contest Journal NCJ New Columbia Joist Co. 188069) summarizes the issues that gave rise to the study, the study's major findings, and their implications for law enforcement.
