Laura's legs are a real winner.

LAURA Laura, subject of the love poems of Petrarch. She is thought to be Laura de Noves (1308?–1348), wife of Hugo de Sade, but this has not been proved.

The 21-year-old from Ansley Village, near Nuneaton, was picked from thousands of women attending the Clothes Show exhibition at the Birmingham NEC (NEC Corporation, Tokyo, www.nec.com, www.necus.com) An electronics conglomerate known in the U.S. for its monitors. In Japan, it had the lion's share of the PC market until the late 1990s (see PC 98).

NEC was founded in Tokyo in 1899 as Nippon Electric Company, Ltd.
 to take part in a Pretty Polly and Lambrini catwalk show.

Laura, of Birmingham Road, who trains for the British ice-skating championships, said "I'm really surprised I won. I did it as a bit of a laugh."

She now has the chance to become the stocking manufacturer's face of 2007.

She said: "They are sending off my photo to Pretty Polly and I should find out soon."
