Lauderdale had two singles, a double and a triple while driving in two runs and scoring a run.

"About time, I've been struggling," Lauderdale said. "I'm just happy I can help the team. We've been struggling to get big hits, so whether it's 3-for-4 or 0-for-4, as long as I can help out and do what I can."

Lauderdale entered the game with a .240 batting average but is now batting .345 with 10 hits in 29 at-bats.

"I needed something to kickstart everything," Lauderdale said. "I would have a good day and then not get hits. You just find the holes."

It was the fourth grand slam of the calendar year for Canham, who hit three this spring while helping Oregon State win the national championship.

Eugene improved to 17-8 and moved within three games of Salem-Keizer in the West Division after outlasting the Canadians in a game that went on for three hours, 44 minutes despite not even going into the bottom of the ninth.

Canham's home run gave the Ems a 5-2 lead, but Vancouver tied the score with three runs in the top of the fourth.

Eugene broke a 5-5 tie with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Keith Conlon singled with one out and Justin Pickett walked. Andy Parrino singled to right to bring home Conlon and then Lauderdale hit a single that drove in Pickett.

The Ems added a run in the bottom of the sixth and Canham again played a key role, but this time with his speed.

Canham led off the inning with a bunt bunt: see smut.  single. He then stole second base and went to third on a wild pitch before Pickett drove him in with a single that deflected de·flect

Vancouver starter Pedro Figueroa walked Parrino to start the inning. Lauderdale hit a double off the top of the wall in left to bring home Parrino. Luis Durango bunted for a single before Eric Sogard walked to load the bases.

Canham then stepped to the plate and drilled a grand slam over the scoreboard.
