) and Synplicity Incorporated (NASDAQ: SYNP SYNP Synchronization Profile ) today announced a multi-year extension of their longstanding agreement for Lattice to OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  Synplify synthesis tools, which currently support all Lattice digital programmable logic devices. The new OEM agreement ensures that Synplify will continue to be included in the Lattice ispLEVER(R) design tool suite, and continued enhancements in performance and additions of new architecture support for the latest generation of Lattice FPGAs, including the new, non-volatile LatticeXP(TM) devices.

"We're excited to extend our partnership with Synplicity," said Chris Fanning, Lattice vice president of software. "Synplify is widely recognized as an exceptional FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) A type of gate array that is programmed in the field rather than in a semiconductor fab. Containing up to hundreds of thousands of gates, there are a variety of FPGA architectures on the market.  synthesis tool, and our agreement means customers will continue to enjoy robust functionality and performance as part of our ispLEVER design tool suite."

Joe Gianelli, Synplicity vice president of business development, said, "Lattice FPGAs are exciting new choices for FPGA designers. Synplicity is very pleased to continue its long-term relationship with Lattice, and to make available the industry leading Synplify synthesis tools to the growing number of Lattice FPGA customers."

The ispLEVER HDL-BASE design tool for Windows includes Synplify FPGA synthesis, and sells for $695. The product is available immediately.

About the latest generation of Lattice FPGAs

The newest generation of Lattice FPGAs, LatticeXP devices employ a combination of SRAM See static RAM.

SRAM - static random-access memory
and Flash technology to provide a non-volatile, in-system reconfigurable FPGA family that offers a single chip, secure solution for logic integration. The low cost, SRAM-based LatticeEC(TM) family provides the best DDR (Double Data Rate) Refers to an SDRAM memory chip that increases performance by doubling the effective data rate of the frontside bus.  Flash memory configuration. The LatticeECP-DSP(TM) family adds a best-in-class multiplier-accumulator engine to the optimized architecture of the LatticeEC to support the expanding use of DSP functionality. Additional complementary device families are planned for announcement later this year.

About Synplicity

Synplicity(R) Inc. (NASDAQ: SYNP) is a leading supplier of innovative synthesis, verification and physical implementation software solutions that enable the rapid and effective design and verification of semiconductors. Synplicity's high-quality, high-performance tools significantly reduce costs and time-to-market for FPGA, structured/platform ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) Pronounced "a-sick." A chip that is custom designed for a specific application rather than a general-purpose chip such as a microprocessor.  and cell-based/COT ASIC designers. The company's underlying Behavior Extracting Synthesis Technology(R) (BEST(TM)), which is embedded in its logical, physical and verification tools, and has led to Synplicity's top position in FPGA synthesis, now provides the same fast runtimes and quality of results to ASIC and COT customers. The company's fast, easy-to-use products support industry standard design languages (VHDL (VHSIC Hardware Description Language) A hardware description language (HDL) used to design electronic systems at the component, board and system level. VHDL allows models to be developed at a very high level of abstraction.  and Verilog) and run on popular platforms. Synplicity employs over 280 people in its 20 facilities worldwide.
