Open Text(TM) Corporation (NASDAQ:OTEX)(TSX:OTC), the leading independent provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software, said today the latest digital asset management (DAM) software from its Artesia subsidiary will provide powerful support to creative professionals in media and entertainment companies and in corporate marketing departments. Version 6.5 improves the productivity of creative professionals by seamlessly linking the desktop design and publishing applications they depend on to the digital media content managed by the Artesia DAM solution.

The new version includes comprehensive integration with Adobe(R) InDesign(R), the innovative layout and design software from Adobe, as well as the integration of Open Text's Livelink Discovery Server, providing advanced natural language search capabilities embedded in the Artesia solution. Open Text announced the news at Adobe's 2005 Partners in Publishing Conference and Expo underway today in San Francisco.

Artesia DAM 6.5 adds the Creative Desktop(TM), which allows users working from Macintosh-based design applications, such as Adobe InDesign CS2 and QuarkXPress(R), to leverage the powerful content management functionality of Artesia DAM running on enterprise-class Windows or Unix servers. With the Creative Desktop, there is no need to learn new applications and users can choose to work either within or outside of the company's firewall. Another key feature of Artesia DAM 6.5 is Artesia Folders(TM) which offers either Windows or Macintosh users an intuitive folder-based interface to the Artesia DAM repository within the native file system viewer. With Artesia Folders, users can search, browse, access, view, edit, import and export digital content, all within the context of the rich security policies defined within Artesia DAM.

Adobe InDesign Integration

Version 6.5's tight integration with Adobe InDesign software leverages features of both solutions to ease users' workload, while maximizing content workflows. This includes intelligent ingest of compound document layouts from Adobe InDesign into Artesia DAM, with optional XMP capture. XMP is an open-standard XML-based metadata interchange framework from Adobe. Users can easily import a layout and the components of the layout, such as graphics, as separate assets in the system, each with separate metadata. Other ease-of-use features include automated generation of XML and PDF renditions and the ability to drag a graphic from Artesia Folders directly into an Adobe InDesign layout, even work-in-progress graphics stored on the server.

Integration with Livelink Discovery Server

The integration of Livelink Discovery Server into the Artesia DAM solution gives customers a powerful search technology to more efficiently find digital content in their growing Artesia DAM systems. Livelink Discovery Server is designed to support customized applications to meet large-scale, information retrieval requirements, helping to dramatically speed searches and improve productivity. The product offers a wide range of state-of-the-art search technology, including natural language queries, search federation, text analysis, concept mining, result clustering and categorization. This capability will be included as part of the base Artesia DAM product license.
