Twenty-three physical therapists recently completed the seventh Train-the-Trainer course in Alexandria, Virginia, bringing the number of credentialed trainers of the voluntary APTA Clinical Instructor (CI) Education and Credentialing Program to 123.

Train-the-Trainer participants are required to demonstrate a sufficiently thorough understanding of the standardized curriculum that they can teach the six components of the program to learners in different disciplines and at all levels. They must be able to teach by integrating active and experiential learning approaches as well as manage and coordinate the program's Assessment Center. The course also emphasizes the concept of providing candid, constructive, and useful assessments of oneself, peers, and instructors. After completing the course, all candidates are reviewed by the Clinical Instructor Education Board (CIEB) to evaluate their performance and to determine Credentialed Clinical Trainer status.
