Late, late show for Murphy.

WELSH 400 metre record holder Catherine Murphy who blew her chances of a medal at the European Championships when going off far too quickly over the first lap of her 400 metres, scored a shock victory today at the Norwich Union International meeting in Glasgow.

The AAA champion tracked Natalya Antyukh and waited until the final 20 metres before she powered past the Russian, winner of the gold medal in Vienna.

Murphy, who is also scheduled to race over 200 metres later in the programme, won in 52.49 seconds.
