According to WBNS Channel 10 (Columbus), after showing callous disregard for the feelings of others, a Mifflin Township, Ohio, man tried to contact his mother after being shot by a woman whom he was trying to rob.

The wounded man was Kahlief Tye, a 19-year-old who was out of jail on bond for an earlier aggravated robbery charge. In the more recent incident, police say that he and an unidentified accomplice broke into the home of Aisha McGee of Columbus on December 27 at about 5:30 p.m. An article in the Columbus Dispatch stated that the men "broke the glass on the side door ... and let themselves in."

McGee's daughter woke her, telling her that intruders were in the house. McGee could hear noises made by the intruders, and so she retrieved a gun. When Tye appeared at the top of some stairs and appeared as if he was going to come down them to where McGee and her daughter were, McGee shot him, causing both intruders to flee.

Tye ran for home about a half mile away, but stopped just short of his destination at an apartment building owned by Clinton Crankfield, Jr. In desperate straits, Tye asked Crankfield to call his mother for him. Crankfield, however, called the authorities. Tye was taken to a nearby hospital where he died.
