Last Miss Pears greets the public; CRY BABY: Soap girl bubbles for her mum.
The three-year-old curly-top is destined to be known for ever as the last face of the Pears soap brand.
But at her coronation ceremony in London, inconsolable Ella sat in front of a bank of eager photographers crying and calling for "Mummy".
Unfortunately, her mother Victoria Cossins had been whisked off to hospital earlier in the morning suffering from a mystery tummy upset and missed her little girl's crowning moment.
The Miss Pears competition, which has been running since 1958, is coming to an end because market research shows the soap is more likely to be bought by style- conscious single people than by folk with young families.
