One of the nation's leading authorities on storing government records electronically will advise city officials from around the world on how to make the best use of new technology May 20 at the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) conference in San Antonio, TX at the Henry Gonzalez Convention Center.

Nien-Ling Wacker, founder and CEO of LaserFiche Document Imaging, will present "Technology is from Mars; City Clerks are from Venus" to explain the differing styles the two professions bring to the municipal decision-making process. Ms. Wacker was awarded the IIMC Visionary Award and the Association of Imaging and Information Management Award in 2001.

"Municipal clerks and IT managers both want the best solutions for their cities, but their educations and work styles make them communicate very differently and even clash at times," Ms. Wacker said. "My goal is to share a few ideas with clerks to help them speak the same language as technology managers."

LaserFiche will serve as Diamond sponsor at the IIMC Convention that is expected to draw 2,000 clerks and other local government officials May 16-23. Among activities planned includes a LaserFiche-sponsored Leadership Colloquium for State Institute leaders of the various IIMC chapters. The institutes provide professional certification classes for municipal clerks, ultimately leading to designation as a certified municipal clerk (CMC), the top professional award.

The new product allows wide scale access to an integrated package of LaserFiche's most accepted products including document imaging/retrieval now supporting MS-SQL, its WebLink Internet portal, work distribution, security/disaster recovery, email storage and plug-ins to improve enterprise productivity.
